Got my old train set from when I was 5. For some reason, my dad got me a HO train set back then. It went around in an oval and ate up most of our floor space. We moved when I was 7, and we could never set it up again.
So I took it with me back home it this winter when I visited and brought it out today. Modulo some rust & some lost parts, it works. I shall have to investigate ways to build a compact and portable track layout suitable for apartments and occasional moves. I don't have any real interest in building some kind of quasi-realistic *model* of the world for my train to trundle about in - I'd rather build some sort of futuristic whizzbang circuit with multiple trains controlled by an Arduino or raspi.
